Upon becoming a grandmother I was delighted to learn about the different names available for grandmothers and to personally experience the pure joy of spending time with my grandchildren so I wrote about it.
Most of the grandmothers’ names are based on the names my friends and relatives told me they use so they are certainly not an exhaustive list.
There are so many different names for grandmothers. Some of them come from a cultural or ethnic background and are passed down through generations. I discovered some of the names are created by the grandmother and others are created by the young grandchild’s own ability to say the chosen name.
I’m still collecting grandmother names just because I am interested in the variety and the stories behind the names. I’d love to hear from readers who may have a unique grandmother name or story to share.
The grandmother – grandchild activities in the book are inspired by my own experiences and the stories my friends shared with me once they knew I was writing the book. I was also inspired by the excellent grandmothers that my own children have.
I live in Manitoba, Canada with my husband. I currently have three grandchildren who I adore.
